The Words That Make God Gag

May 28, 2020 1251

Jesus never turned away anyone who came to him in humility.

The Bible tells us that there are some words that make God gag. You know what gagging is, right? It’s that awful, violent feeling just before you throw up.

So what are those words we say that make God gag? You’d have to think they’d be pretty bad. Well, here they are:

They say, ‘Keep your distance. Don’t touch me. I’m holier than thou.’
These people gag me. I can’t stand their stench.

Of course, no one would ever admit saying the words, “I’m holier than thou.” But people say it in different ways, and especially with how they treat others.

We should remember that mercy is only for the merciful (Matt 5:7).

That’s why Jesus never turned away anyone who came to him in humility. And his harshest words were reserved for those who came to him thinking that they were superior to others. Remember the great advice from the Bible: “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.”
