From The Inside-Out

Jesus wants to change you – from the inside-out.

I’ve travelled a fair bit, and there’s large parts of the world that have a custom I’m not really comfortable with. It’s the custom of leaving your shoes at the door so you don’t bring dirt from the street inside the house. It’s required across Asia, Middle-Eastern Countries, Eastern Europe, and all the Nordic countries.

Of course, I agree that it’s a good idea to keep your house clean. It’s just that when I take my shoes off, I typically get horrific hay fever!

Inside-Out or Stupid? Jesus Words, Not Mine

Jesus taught that it’s not what comes into your life that contaminates you. He actually called this kind of thinking stupid. Jesus said that it’s what comes out of our own hearts that the problem:

Jesus said, “Are you being willfully stupid? Don’t you see that what you swallow can’t contaminate you? It doesn’t enter your heart but your stomach, works its way through the intestines, and is finally flushed.” (That took care of dietary quibbling; Jesus was saying that all foods are fit to eat.)

He went on: “It’s what comes out of a person that pollutes: obscenities, lusts, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, depravity, deceptive dealings, carousing, mean looks, slander, arrogance, foolishness—all these are vomit from the heart. There is the source of your pollution.” (Mark 7:18-20 MSG)

And if you think about it, you’ll realise that Jesus was right. It’s your thinking that determines your behaviour. Change your thoughts and you’ll change your life. Remember: Jesus wants to change you from the inside-out.

Praise the Lord I really enjoy reading these devotionals so easy to understand and it's to the point. I gave my heart to the Lord when I was 35, now I'm 76 I struggled through the years of the preaching. I realized that most of those years . I struggled to understand . But because I loved the Lord in changing my life l kept going. After a few years later I started to put my trust in God rather than man And He helped me by His Holy Spirit Empowering me for my calling. I really understand simply explanation of the word of God. Very True. It's not what you eat that contaminates you. So we should watch our thought patterns. We should pray n ask the Holy Spirit to hold all our thoughs captive so that we can focus on Jesus who is the author n finisher of our faith. I pray that the devotionals will help me to grow my faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
