Unlimited: Judgment Based on Truth

Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth (Romans 2:2).

The point Paul is making here is God never judges wrongly, because he always has all the facts about your actions, words, and even the most hidden motivations of your heart. You can fool the people around you through your polite speech, polished appearance, and your justifications for your actions. But you will never, ever be able to fool God. God judges us based on truth.

There are many ways in which we judge falsely. The psalmist David wrote,

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much pure gold;
Sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb
(Ps. 19:9–10, NASB.)

God’s judgment is based on truth.

The apostle is here writing particularly to the Jewish people, who considered themselves above the judgment of God because they were God’s special people and externally they appeared to be much more obedient than the Gentiles. At the same time, the Jewish people judged the Gentiles harshly because of the way they lived. But Paul tells them that all who sin will be judged based on truth, and he will go on to show them that the truth as God sees it is far deeper than our shallow understanding.

Spiritual Application

Can you remember a time when you judged someone wrongly? What went wrong with your judgment? How grateful are you that God’s judgment is always based on truth?

Point noted. Judgement basing on the truth is God's original way of approving the righteous and evil. Today the world is so quick in judgement than doing the right investigations basing on the true facts. Thanks pastor.
