The One Who Lifts You Up

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, some Magi from the east came to pay homage to the new-born king. They wanted to know where the Messiah had been born.

When news of their quest came to the ears of King Herod, he naturally was very upset and commanded his religious advisors to come and see him. He demanded that they reveal where this Messiah was to be born. They told him that the prophet Micah had predicted in his writings that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, in the land of Judah. “In Bethlehem in the land of Judah”, they replied,” ‘The Messiah would be by no means the least among the rulers of Judah, for out of Judah,’ (Matthew 2:1-6) says the Lord, will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people, Israel,’ (Micah 5:2).

Herod was livid, but God’s purpose in sending the Messiah was so different from what Herod himself imagined. Jesus began as a nobody but was destined to be a ruler who would be the Shepherd of all God’s people.

You, likewise, may consider that you are nothing, but when you accept Jesus as your Lord and King, he lifts you up and seats you with himself on his throne (Revelation. 3:21). What a transformation! It’s unbelievable. You were nothing but now you are somebody. You have the supreme assurance that you have a Saviour who cares about you. Your cup overflows with the wonderful assurance that you are saved.
