I think the Kingdom of God is like my sock drawer, where all the socks of different kinds and colours all seem to fit. For me the Gospel is all about inclusion. It is all about a God who has flung the door of heaven open through Jesus Christ and Calvary.

Jesus said,

But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous (Luke 14:13).

That’s exactly what God is like! And this is his Gospel invitation:

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. (Rev 22:7).

The Kingdom of God is like my sock drawer. And God’s invitation says,

“If you’re an odd sock, ‘Come in! There’s room for you!’”
