You’re Not Alone

Loneliness is an epidemic that ravages lives everywhere as surely as any epidemic. But when you feel the dark pit of loneliness in your heart, listen to the word of truth: You’re not alone.
There are many reasons why you might feel lonely. Sometimes it’s not your fault, like the death of someone you love, but you suffer the consequences. And there are many people who are lonely as a result of their own actions, because they ruined a wonderful relationship, or because of their own sins. But the reason for your loneliness doesn’t matter. If you are willing to accept the friendship of Jesus, you are not alone.
It was a dark and desperate time for the kingdom of Israel. It was under attack by the nation of Aram, but Israel had a secret weapon. God’s prophet, Elisha was in Israel, guiding and advising Israel’s king.
And so the king of Aram decided to rid himself of his problem. He decided to eliminate Elisha. Elisha was in the city of Dothan, so the king of Aram had sent a strong military force to surround the city, in order to capture him. The prophet had never faced anything like this before.
When dawn broke over Dothan, the prophet’s servant was the first to wake up. He when he looked out over the walks of the city, he saw that a great army with horses and chariots had entirely surrounded the city. They were intent on capturing the man of God by whatever means it took.
The servant rushed back, and I can imagine him waking the prophet in a panic,
“Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked(2 Kings 6:15, NIV).
Elisha said to him,
Don’t be afraid… Those who are with us are more than those who are with them(v16).
How could that possibly be? It went against all logic and the evidence of his own eyes. The king of Aram had sent an army to capture them. They were surrounded, and there was no way that help could reach them. They had no hope.
The armies of heaven are with you. You are more than safe.
But they did. Elisha knew what he was talking about. He knew that when God is with you, you are never outnumbered. Elijah said a simple prayer,
Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see (v.17).
Suddenly, the servant of the man of God could see: really see! His spiritual eyes were opened, and when he looked again, he saw the hills around the city filled with horses and chariots of fire: the host of heaven sent for their protection (v.17).
If you have accepted Jesus as your friend, I wonder what you would see if your spiritual eyes were opened right no?. No matter how lonely or abandoned you might feel, you would see that you’re not alone. More than that, no matter how hopeless and desperate your situation may seem, the armies of heaven are with you.
Jesus is always right there where he has promised you that he will always be: right there by your side. And he is the commander of the hosts of heaven.
You are more than safe.

I was filled with fear, and asked God to rescue me through the holy spirit. Now I now am stronger than before. God is great.
