“Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know” (Job 42:3).
Indeed! In his distress Job had dared to call the Almighty to account; he had issued a summons for God to appear before him and hear his complaint. It is for us to recognise in Job, our own brashness and follow his learning path to a point at which we admit that we are not in a position to interrogate God. Our minds are too small, our accumulated wisdom is not sufficient for such an undertaking. In the end, God is to be trusted if he is to be enjoyed.
