“Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way . . . . Blessed are all who take refuge in him” (Psalm 2:12).
This verse, along with Psalm 110:1 is spoken to the Lord’s anointed king of Israel. It was applied by Christians in the New Testament era to the resurrected Christ, and it is easy to see why. The Son is endowed by God with the highest possible honor. His authority extends over all the nations; the destiny of all men is in his hands; it is in their interest to make terms with him. What terms? Though his sovereignty is complete, not capricious or vindictive. His power is magnanimous, benevolent. To all who acknowledge him he is a refuge, a place of safety.
