Forgiveness – The Rule Not the Exception
I’ve met some incredible women, survivors of the horrific genocide in Rwanda in 1994. They’re some of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.
These women were Christians and they had learnt to forgive.
Of course, you don’t need to be a Christian to forgive, but I think there is a difference, because Christians understand that forgiveness is the rule, while others see forgiveness as the exception.
Forgiveness is difficult. When a person takes the extraordinary step of forgiving someone who has committed a crime against them, it makes the news. It’s extraordinary! It’s the exception, not the rule.
But it is normal when we live like Jesus Christ taught us to live. The Bible says,
Forgive each other, just as God forgave you in Christ.
It may not be easy. It may not always happen. But that’s what God says should always be our goal.
Remember, forgiveness is not the exception, but the rule.
Christians understand that forgiveness is the rule not the exception.
