Letting Go
When I was five years old, I met my first set of monkey bars. They were the scariest thing I’d ever seen. I avoided them like the plague.
C.S. Lewis said that,
Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.
Some years later I looked at those same monkey bars and I thought how puny they were. Why? Because I’d grown, and I’d let go of my fear.
Sometimes the fears we need to let go of in order to grow are often the very fears that we hold on to most tightly.
God calls us to let go of our fears and the failures of our past – our pain, and our hurts. Because all those things will only stop us from becoming who he has called us to be.
Remember: the future that God has for you is better than your past.
God calls us to be letting go of our fears and the failures of our past, because the future he has for us is so much better.
