Live Like Who You Are

In September 1985, there was a celebration at a New Orleans municipal pool. The party around the pool was held to celebrate the first summer in memory without a drowning there. In honour of the occasion, 200 people gathered, including 100 certified lifeguards. As the party was breaking up, a fully dressed body was found in the deep end of the pool. They tried to revive the man but it was too late. He’d drowned while surrounded by a hundred lifeguards.

Unbelievable! How could he have drowned with so many life-guards around him? It’s because they were too busy not being who they were meant to be – lifeguards.

And that’s the key to being a follower of Jesus! You have to live like who you are: part of the family of God, his sons and daughters… and lifesavers as well. Remember: You are a child of God, and no-one drowns on your watch!
