After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. – Rev. 7:9

The redeemed in heaven are represented here as having white robes. They aren’t wearing Pierre Cardin or Prada. They are wearing white robes that they have received only from the hand of Christ. They wear nothing else.

The redeemed in heaven are holding palm branches. These are symbols of the victory of the Lamb. They are not holding their bank statements, letters of commendation, or lists on which their good deeds are written. Their hands are empty, other than for the victory that the Lamb has given them.

That’s the scandal of grace. Entry to heaven is not by what we offer, but by what we accept.

When it comes to your entry to heaven, nothing else matters. Everything else that your society, culture, family, or even your church values, is worthless in the light of this great question: Have you accepted the gift?

Read the story of this great multitude in Revelation 7. Hear them shake heaven with their praise of the Lamb. Join your voice to theirs today, and accept the gift.
