Unlimited: Bring Praise to God

in order to bring praise to God (Romans 15:7b).

Christians like to give praise to God. They like to do that through singing and praying and speaking about him.

However, that’s not how the apostle Paul tells us that we are to give praise to God here in Rom. 15:7. We are to give praise to God by accepting one another. Specifically, we bring praise to God when we accept each other despite our differences.

Giving praise to God by accepting others doesn’t come naturally to us. It is, however, in a real sense, the greatest praise we can give to him, because when we accept one another, we are acknowledging that we have properly understood that Christ has accepted us first.

We bring praise to God when we accept each other despite our differences.

When we fail to accept others, we are failing to fulfil the purpose of our lives. We can only find true satisfaction when we fulfil God’s purpose for us. We were created to give glory and praise to God (Isa. 43:7.)

everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made (Isa. 43:7.)

Beyond any bright lights and pyrotechnics, the glory of God in the Bible principally refers to his character (Compare Ex. 33:18 with Ex. 34:5–7.) When we accept others, as Christ has accepted us, we reflect his glory back to him and truly give him praise.

Spiritual Application

Think of one person whom you find difficult to accept. Despite the barriers between you, how can you better accept that person and bring praise to God?
