Unlimited: Not Worthwhile

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done (Romans 1:28).

People spend great sums of money going to the gym to look after their bodies. They spend large amounts of money socialising, to look after their relationships. But they focus little on looking after the state of their minds.

Mental health is important, because. it is a fundamental truth that our actions are determined by our thoughts. That’s why it’s so important to look after our minds.

However, I am not referring only to “mental health” in terms of things like anxiety and depression alone. The moral health of our minds, and how we feed our minds are fundamental issues.

When a person doesn’t think that it’s worthwhile to know God, they are making a choice to not allow him to work in their life on their behalf. God will always respect a person’s choices, and he will allow them to experience what it means to be disconnected from him.

When a person doesn’t think that it’s worthwhile to know God, they are making a choice to not allow him to work in their life on their behalf.

Paul tells us that one of the results of disconnecting from God is that the human mind will revert to its natural human depravity. We will be so deluded that we will not even recognise it as depravity.

The way to avoid a depraved mind, and therefore depraved actions, starts with a right knowledge of God. Knowing who he is, and his character, are the fundamental questions of life.
