Unlimited: Set Free

because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).
This is the freedom to which Jesus calls us. It isn’t the freedom of the world, which is the freedom to do whatever you like, to do whatever feels good or right to you at the time. The freedom to which Jesus calls us is the freedom from the law of sin and death.
The law of sin and death rules the motives of those who are under its power. Not only are they oppressed by the guilt of sin, but their very identity, motivations, behaviours, and relationships are fundamentally shaped by fear.
Once you have been set free from the law of sin and death, you have life.
It is from this that the Spirit has set you free through Christ Jesus. As the verse says, once you have been set free from the law of sin and death, you have life. Not only will your own self-identity be shaped by the life that comes from Christ, but every one of your relationships.
How would you live if you knew that you were going to live forever? That is the reality for those who have been set free by Christ. You can only truly live when you know that you have eternal life. You will lift up your head and have no fear. You will see unbounded horizons of possibility, and you will know that all is yours (1 Cor 3:21).
