Unlimited: To Their Own Master

Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall… (Romans 14:4a).
Paul provides a parallel to this thought a few verses on:
You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat (Rom. 14:10.)
The Bible is definite in that there will be a day of judgment. In the context of being able to “stand,” in the book of Revelation, the apostle John asks the question:
and they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the sight of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” (Rev 6:16–17, NASB.)
Each servant is accountable to their own master and to no-one else.
The principle that Paul gives us here in Rom. 14:4 is that if you are a servant of Christ, then we have no right to judge another’s servant.
Here is Paul’s logic: We are all servants, either of righteousness or of sin. Each servant is accountable to their own master and to no-one else. It is the master who will justify their servant’s action. He will either commend or rebuke them. Therefore, we have no business judging someone else’s servants. We will all, ourselves, stand before God’s judgment seat.
Spiritual Application
As you review your own life, are you more struck by the evil around you, or by your own inability to judge and condemn others given the evil from which Christ has redeemed you?
