Bookkeeping Christianity – by Eliezer Gonzalez

I recently sat with Des Ford and asked him a question: “If once you accepted the grace and forgiveness of Christ into your life, and then you reject salvation, for what sins will you perish? Will they include the sins that were once forgiven?”
I was surprised by Des’ answer. He said to me, “That’s ‘book-keeping Christianity.’ It’s not New Testament Christianity. The only question that matters is if we have accepted the love of the Father. If you have, then nothing else matters.”
How true this answer from Des was! The forgiveness that God offers us is real! God blots out our transgressions, he remembers them no more (Isa 43:25), he casts them into the depths of the sea! (Micah 7:19).
Too often we love to do bookkeeping about our own salvation, and especially about the salvation of others. God simplifies everything; he says:
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son does not have life – 1 John 5:12.
This is the most important question you will ever be asked: Do you have the Son?
If you do, then let’s stop doing bookkeeping and let’s start living today!

Ahhh, no bookkeeping in the heavenly courts, good news. I will put to memory the two texts: Isaiah 43:25 and Micah 7:19, knowing that God does not keep a record of my sins in His books after forgiving them. If He did, then God would be like any earthly father & bring them up again to remind me of past mistakes. No, our Heavenly Father blots out our sins & forgets them, even burying them in the deepest sea. And again in Hebrews 8:12 "I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." NKJV Praise God!
