Unlimited: Fully Persuaded

being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness” (Romans 4:21–22).
Abraham was completely convinced that God was able to fulfil his promise to him. He didn’t know when God would do it, and he didn’t know how God would do it, but he knew that God could do it.
Like Abraham, we can be fully persuaded that God will fulfil his word to us but not fully understand how. Abraham struggled with the “how” all his life. He thought that he had to help God. He came up with various schemes to help God, including “adopting” Eliezer as his heir and having a son with Sarah’s servant, Hagar.
Like Abraham, we can be fully persuaded that God will fulfil his word to us but not fully understand how.
The great test of Abraham, at the end of his life, was when God asked him to sacrifice his only son Isaac, the son of the promise. The purpose of this test was to apparently remove all earthly possibility of “how” God would fulfil his promise, and to see if Abraham would still believe. He couldn’t work for it. The promise could only be fulfilled by being credited to Abraham.
Abraham’s words on Mt Moriah were,
God himself will provide the lamb (Gen 22:8).
These words are the key to your salvation, and to how God will fulfil every promise to you. He himself provided the Lamb in the person of his own Son, Jesus, in whom all power resides.
Spiritual Application
How deep is your relationship with Christ? Are you “fully persuaded” that God has done what he has promised and credited his righteousness to you?
